How PNG compression works
PNG stores images losslessly and supports a transparent background — ideal for icons, logos, UI screenshots, and graphics with sharp edges. For full-color photos, PNG is often several times larger than JPG at similar visual quality.
LiteCompress can keep the file as PNG (with reduced resolution) or convert to JPEG when transparency is not needed. The second option saves the most space — check "Convert to JPG" before compressing.
When to keep PNG
- Logos and icons with transparency.
- Screenshots with text and UI elements.
- Web graphics where sharp edges matter.
